XBlast Dictionary Page

If you want to understand XBlast and the philosophy behind it, you'll have to master the terminology of XBlast used by the real XBlasters. To facilitate this tremendous task, I compiled a small dictionary with the most important terms.

I'll see whether Yves Bresson will put a copy of this dictionary on his XBlast-Center and maybe even add to it.

Aim
Naturally, every player has a different aim when playing. Baiscally, we have 5 different player types:
  1. The alpha-player. He tries to actually win the game, an attitude which earns him the disdain of the other players.
  2. The beta-player. His primary aim is to keep a particular player from winning, and he tries to achieve this by using the sniper-tactics against this player, without any consideration for the general situation.
  3. The gamma-player. He tries to prolong the game as a whole, which means that he always uses the sniper-tactics against the leading player.
  4. The delta-player. He simply wants to have fun. Usually achieves this through applying the SWS-tactics and laughing at his opponents, especially at those representing type beta and gamma.
  5. The epsilon-player. He has no clue as to how to play in civilized way, and therefore runs around, dropping bombs without plan, thus appearing to be similar to those using the SWS-tactics.
Bomb
A device constructed in order to prove that peaceful coexistence is impossible.
Enemy
Everybody who has the unfortune to be in the reach of your weaponery. This may sometimes include your teampartner. On the other hand, if he is a worthy partner, he'll stay in a safe distance.
Friend
Everybody who has the fortune to be out of the reach of your weaponery.
Idiot
  1. Any player who, when being in the final stage of a level, loses against the personal enemy of myself, thus allowing this player to win the level and the game.
  2. Any player who, after being hit lethally by my ingenious strategics, droppes a bomb, killing me as well.
Nice guy
  1. Any player who, when being in the final stage of a level, loses against me, thus allowing me to win the level and the game.
  2. Any player who, after being hit lethally with a bomb dropped by a pure streak of luck from any other player (exluding myself) droppes a bomb, killing the other one as well.
Hasenfuß-tactics
Named after the famous hunter Johann Hasenfuß, a tactics, where you keep at the edges of the field, trying to avoid any attention from the opponents and to survive long enough to be killed by the shrink.
Sniper-tactics
A tactics, where you concentrate on a particular player and try to neutralize him.
Schwarzenegger-Willis-Stallone-tactics
Also known as SWS-tactics, a tactics, where you run around, blindly dropping bombs and kicking and blowing everything in reach, in the desperate hope that either you or your partner will be the survivor in the end.
Shrink
The natural enemy of the Hasenfuß-player. Ensures that he doesn't win often.
